William F. Benson


Bill Benson is President of Health Benefits ABCs, offering aging and public health policy, educational, strategic planning, program development, facilitation, research and evaluation services. Benson has held senior leadership positions in the U.S. Congress and at the U.S. Administration on Aging. He spent 10 years with the California Department of Aging including as California’s State Long-Term Care Ombudsman. Clients include: National Adult Protective Services Association; the U.S. ACL-funded National Resource Centers for the Senior Health Insurance and Assistance Program (SHIP) and the Senior Medicare Patrol Program; Michigan and Mississippi Public Health Institutes, National Association of Chronic Disease Directors; Maryland Department of Aging; American Association of Service Coordinators; Baltimore City Health Department; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and many others. Benson is also President of the International Association for Indigenous Aging, focusing primarily on policies to improve the lives of American Indian and Alaska Native elders. Benson serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations including the American Society on Aging, where he chairs the Public Policy Committee, the Kendal Corporation, and the Center for Global Aging at The Catholic University of America. He was recently appointed to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services National Advisory Committee on Rural Health & Human Services. Since 2000 Benson has hosted First Person, a series of conversations with Holocaust survivors before live audiences at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
